During the four-year siege of the Bosnian capital city of Sarajevo, hundreds of thousands of bombs rained upon the city from the surrounding hills. Every shell exploding on a road or paved area left an imprint resembling that of a flower. Today, some of these craters remain, their ‘petals’ painted red and referred to as ‘Sarajevo roses’ by its citizens, like scars on the heart, a reminder of the innocent blood that was spilled on these streets.
Art is Forever was a project that attempted to foster a more meaningful connection between the Portland Art Museum and its visitors. Several Portland artists were selected and given the opportunity to create illustrations inspired by their visits to the Portland Art Museum. These illustrations were made available as free tattoos on a first come, first served basis throughout the entire day.
I am just so excited by this idea.
Just visiting some friends. (Taken with instagram)
Happy Black Friday everyone! I hope your bellies are so full of turkey and pie and that you’re ready to shop! Use the code ‘BLACKFRIDAY’ for 25% off in my shop until Monday! Remember to support your local artists and crafters this holiday season. Lots of Etsy stores are having sales, so support them!
Another custom dog portrait. I’ll do portraits of any type of pet, though pugs seem to be quite popular. If you’re interested, email me at email@example.com.
Hey guys, I’ll be selling at art.REACH 2.0 tomorrow night @ UMBC in The Commons on Mainstream and it’s from 6-10.
I’ll have everything seen on my etsy (you won’t have to pay shipping!), and some things that aren’t listed too. Come by and say ‘Hi’, eat the free food, and pick up some early Christmas gifts!
This was such a great documentary! I love Herb and Dorothy, these are the kinds of people I make art for! Watch it on netflix bro!
Tomorrow night the UMBC IMDA MFA (that’s a lot of caps) program is having a show at the in/flux building on Baltimore Street. The opening starts at 7 and goes until 9. If you’re at all interested in the program, this would be a great way to see what other grads are doing, and it will also just be a really interesting and diverse show!
BTW! I’m in this show tomorrow night and I’m showing some old/repurposed/rethought work. If you received my ‘Interactions with Strangers’ zine and liked it, you’ll want to come to this! Volume 2 is up for grabs along with the originals on view! I hope to see you all there!
